Bloomington Edge News Release

Michael Mink, Commissioner of the X League, came to Bloomington last winter to include the Central Illinois region in the league. He advocated for local ownership with an emphasis on game entertainment, a winning culture, and community participation. Over the last year, the team has provided quality sports entertainment due to the hard work by very dedicated individuals. Now the team will accomplish another aim by having local ownership under the direction of Dr. Omar Khokhar, a local physician and football afficianado.

Mr. Mink said, "We will have a press conference in the near future on the organizational changes that will propel this team into a promising future. I am happy that I could keep this program going to find a community-based owner with new ideas who is excited about our team." Dr. Khokhar said, "I look forward to building upon the solid base that Mr. Mink created this past season. With this transition, I look forward to transforming the Bloomington Edge into a competitive and successful franchise that will deliver a championship to our city. This team will be operating in close partnership with the community. I am very excited for our future."

The Edge take on the Rio Grande Valley Sol tonight at 7 pm tonight at the US Cellular Coliseum for the final regular game of the season, with a playoff berth at stake. Tickets are available at the door or by going to ticketmaster.com.
