Southern Illinois opens vs Lake Erie on May 11th at Rent One Park
Marion, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Miners announce the release of their 2018 Frontier League schedule today as they will open up their 12th season at Rent One Park in Marion next year.
For the third year in a row, the Miners will start their season at home on Opening Night, taking on the Lake Erie Crushers on Friday, May 11th. Following that weekend series in Marion, Southern Illinois will travel to Schaumburg to take on the 2017 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers before spending the following weekend back at home against West Division rival River City from May 18th-20th.
Miners fans will have plenty of opportunities throughout the summer to come and see their team. In June, schedule highlights including home weekends against Evansville (June 1st-3rd), Washington (June 15th-17th) and Gateway (June 29th-July 1st). In July, after a 4th-of-July series in Traverse City, the Miners host Windy City the following weekend before the all-star break from July 6th-8th. After the break, the Boomers make the return trip to Rent One Park from July 17th-19th, and the Miners will also host a season-long nine-game homestand from July 24th-August 2nd, taking on River City, Florence and Traverse City.
As in years past, weekday home games (Tuesday-Friday) will begin at 7:05 p.m., while Saturday home contests will start at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday games in Marion will get underway at 5:05 p.m. All game times are subject to change.
