Milwaukee Admirals Go for 11th Straight Home Win Thursday
January 7, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals return to the Bradley Center ice Thursday, January 8th at 7:00 pm against the Toronto Marlies in search of a team record 11th straight home win. The Admirals haven't lost a home game since November 15th and their 13-2-0-1 home record is the best in the AHL.
The Admirals currently sit atop the standings in the West Division with 50 points and a 24-9-1-1 record. They are eight points ahead of the second place Iowa and Peoria despite having played the fewest games in the division. The Ads have picked up at least a point in eight straight games and tied a team record with 12 wins in the month of December. Since October 31 Milwaukee has totaled a 22-5-1 record.
The All-Star combination of Mike Santorelli and Cal O'Reilly provide a potent one-two punch, as Santorelli is currently tied for second in the AHL in scoring with 41 points while O'Reilly is tied for seventh with 38 points. Defensemen Alexander Sulzer (29 pts) and Cody Franson (21 pts), and rookie forwards Nick Spaling (18 pts) and recently recalled Ryan Jones (17 pts) all provide significant contributions to what has been a very balanced offense.
Goaltenders Drew MacIntyre and Mark Dekanich have anchored a solid defense for the Admirals. MacIntyre is second in the league with 16 wins to go along with two shutouts, a 2.59 goals against aver and a .912 save percentage. Dekanich, a rookie out of Colgate University, leads the AHL with a 1.98 goals against average with an 8-4 record.
