Mill Rats Defeat Hurricanes

Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club were in action January 13th at the Scotiabank Centre against the Saint John Mill Rats. The Hurricanes fell 100-105 to the Mill Rats. The Hurricanes now have a record of 6-2, leading the Atlantic Conference and the league in wins. With this win, the Mill Rats have a record of 5-4 and are in second place in the Atlantic Division.

Hurricanes trailed the Mill Rats 23-27 after the first quarter, and at halftime the Hurricanes trailed the Mill Rats 47-48. The Hurricanes outscored the Mill Rats 32-25 in the third quarter, leading 79-73 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Mill Rats outscored the Hurricanes 32-21 to earn the victory over the Hurricanes.

Forward, Mike Glover led the Hurricanes with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Forward, Kyle Hunt scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Guard, Justin Johnson scored 18 points. Guard, Joseph Bertrand scored 17 points. Guard, Joel Friesen scored 10 points.

Forward, Gabe Freeman led the Mill Rats with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Guard, Doug Herring Jr scored 24 points. Guard, Corey Almond scored 16 points coming off the bench. Forward, Anthony Stover scored 14 points grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 10 shots for a triple-double. Guard, Anthony Anderson scored 10 points.

The Hurricanes now head on a 4 game road trip, they begin January 14th in Saint John against the Mill Rats. Hurricanes will return to the Scotiabank Centre January 28.
