Michael Theofanopoulos promoted to Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that LHP Michael Theofanopoulos has been promoted to Fort Myers of the Florida State League. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Theofanopoulos made 21 relief appearances for the Kernels this season, posting a 3-0 record, 1.67 ERA and two saves. In 32.1 IP, he allowed 18 hits and eight runs (six earned) with 10 walks and 45 strikeouts. He was selected by the Twins in the 30th round of the 2014 First Year Player draft out of the University of California.
A corresponding move was not immediately announced by the Twins. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the Midwest League maximum of 25, with six players currently on the DL and one player on the Restricted List.
The Kernels host the 2016 Midwest League All-Star Game, presented by GO Cedar Rapids, tonight at 7:05 PM with the gates opening at 5:00 PM. The MWL All-Star Home Run Derby, presented by Collins Community Credit Union, takes place at 6:00 PM, and fans will be able to get autographs from the MWL All-Stars on the concourse from 5:15 until 6:15 PM.
