Miami FC Forward Vincenzo Rennella Named NASL

NEW YORK  - With four goals in four league games during the month of June, Miami FC forward Vincenzo Rennella has been named North American Soccer League (NASL) Player of the Month.

The 28-year-old forward helped lead Miami to a perfect record in June, scoring in three of the four victories. The highlight for Rennella came on June 17 when he tallied two goals and an assist in Miami's 4-0 win over Jacksonville Armada FC.

A native of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France, Rennella came on as a substitute to score the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over FC Edmonton on June 10. After his masterful performance against Jacksonville - one that earned him NASL Player of the Week honors - he found the back of the net again in the Orange and Blue's 2-1 win over the New York Cosmos on June 24. 

Rennella's red-hot month extended his exceptional run of form that began in May. Between May 6 and June 24, a span of eight league games, he scored eight goals. Through 14 league games in 2017, Rennella leads the league in both goals (8) and assists (4).

Thanks to the efforts of Rennella and his teammates, Miami is on the cusp of collecting its first piece of silverware in club history. Heading into the weekend, head coach Alessandro Nesta's side leads the San Francisco Deltas, who will be visiting Riccardo Silva Stadium on Saturday, by four points with two games to play. A win on Saturday night would give Miami the NASL Spring Season Championship. A draw could also do it, but Jacksonville would also need to draw or lose to Puerto Rico FC this weekend.

Rennella has been arguably the league's most impressive player so far this season. He joined Miami on loan from Spanish side Real Valladolid last year before making the permanent move to South Florida prior to the 2017 season. The 6-foot-2 forward has played in some of the world's top leagues, including La Liga (Spain) and Serie A (Italy).

Miami and San Francisco will go to battle on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET at Riccardo Silva Stadium. The game can be seen live on The CW South Florida, beIN SPORTS USA and beIN SPORTS CONNECT.
