St. Lucie Mets News Release

DAYTON BEACH, Fla. - The St. Lucie Mets tied a season high in runs scored by blasting the Daytona Tortugas 11-5 on Tuesday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

New York Mets shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb) had a productive game in a rehab start. He went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run while playing six innings at short. Both hits came in a six-run fourth inning where the Mets sent 12 men to the plate.

Jhoan Urena went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and two walks. Patrick Mazeika set the tone early with a 431-foot home run in the second inning to put the Mets up 1-0.

St. Lucie entered the fourth trailing 3-1 but score six times to take a 7-3 lead. Peter Alonso smacked a RBI double in the frame. Wuilmer Becerra, John Mora and Cabrera added RBI singles in the inning. All the damage was done against Tortugas starter Jesus Reyes.

Daytona started to chip away at the lead against Justin Dunn and Justin Brantley, but the Mets went to reliever Johnny Magliozzi in the sixth inning and he slammed the door. Magliozzi pitched the final 3.1 innings scoreless with two hits and no walks to earn his sixth save.

Brantley tossed two innings of one-run ball to get the win. Mets starter Justin Dunn had trouble with his command and needed 95 pitches to go 3.2 innings. He was tagged for four hits and four runs (three earned). He walked five.

The game took three hours and 24 minutes to play, which marked the longest nine-inning game for the Mets this year.

The Mets (32-35) and Tortugas (33-31) wrap up their series and the Florida State League's first half with a 10:30 a.m. game on Wednesday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
