Memphis Slows Down Storm Chasers

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Memphis, TN - Adron Chambers collected four hits and drove in four runs to lead Memphis past Omaha, 12-4, Thursday afternoon in the last of four meetings at AutoZone Park. The Storm Chasers dipped to 82-58 after splitting the just-completed series and the 16-game season series against the Redbirds.

Memphis jumped on Omaha starter Nate Adcock for seven runs in the first inning on a three-run home run by Steven Hill and run-scoring hits by Cedric Hunter, Lou Montanez and Chambers. The 24-year-old right-hander was saddled with the loss and removed after allowing eight hits in just that one frame in his shortest turn of the season.

The Chasers got on the board in the fourth on an RBI double by Max Ramirez and added another run in the fifth on a Cody Clark ground out that plated Rey Navarro to make it 7-2, but that is as close as they would get.

Blaine Hardy followed Adcock on the hill and kept the hosts off the board until the fifth when Chambers doubled in a pair and Brock Peterson singled to drive in two more to put the game out of reach.

A David Lough ground out chased home Ramirez in the sixth to make it 11-3, with those runs charged to Memphis starter Tyler Lyons, who lasted 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win. Wil Myers slugged a solo home run in the eighth, his 36th of the season between Double and Triple-A, to account for the visitors final tally.

Omaha will send left-hander Justin Marks to the mound in his Triple-A debut Friday night in the series opener against Albuquerque right-hander Stephen Fife. Coverage of the game gets underway at 7:45 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone Two, The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
