Memphis Grizzlies Assign Hasheem Thabeet To Wizards

BISMARCK, ND, February 25, 2010 - The Dakota Wizards announced today that they have been assigned center Hasheem Thabeet by their parent club, the Memphis Grizzlies. Thabeet will be in uniform tomorrow night when the Wizards take on the Erie BayHawks in the second game of back-to-back contests on the road.

Thabeet, 23, chosen 2nd overall by Memphis in the 2009 NBA Draft, is the highest pick to ever to appear in the NBA Development League. The 7'3 rookie out of UConn is averaging 2.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for the Grizzlies this season. During Thabeet's final season at UConn, he led the Huskies to the NCAA Final Four while being named Second Team All-America, National Defensive Player of the Year, co-Big East Player of the Year and Big East Defensive Player of the Year.
