Memphis Gets a Pair of Home Runs in Redbirds 6-3 Win

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds got a home run from Jon Jay and another from Jeremy Hazelbaker as the Birds defeated the Zephyrs 6-3 in game two of the series.

Jay led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run. The Redbirds sent nine batters to the plate in the fourth inning scoring four runs on four hits.

New Orleans answered by sending eight batters to the plate in the fifth inning, scoring a pair and leaving the bases loaded.

Memphis starter Kyle Hald worked six innings and earned his first Triple-A win. Jake Esch took the loss working five innings for the Zephyrs.

Reid Brignac led the Z's offense with three hits and drove in a run.

Memphis improved to 68-70 and the Zephyrs fall to 56-82.

GAME NOTES

The Zephyrs added pitcher Jose Jose from Class A Jupiter. The Z's placed pitcher Rob Morey on the disabled list.

Round Rock Express clinched the division on Monday night with the Memphis loss.

ON DECK

The Zephyrs continue their final roadtrip of the season on Wednesday. The Zephyrs will take on Memphis at 11:35. New Orleans will start LH Travis Blackley (4-7, 5.31) against RHP Zach Petrick (7-7, 4.38)
