Lincoln Stars News Release

Des Moines, Iowa - The Lincoln Stars took their second win of the weekend with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday in Buccaneer Arena.

The win marked the Stars fourth against the Buccaneers and moved them to 10-9-3 overall.

After allowing the first few shots of the night, the Stars responded with a two-on-one rush at 12:16 of the first period. Sam Sternschein and Brandon Schultz connected on the play to give Schultz his fourth of the season and the Stars a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Buccaneers goalie Jan Ruzicka misplayed the puck in front of his net and allowed Ethen Frank to make it 2-0. Frank's goal was his fifth of the season.

Justin Richards added to the Stars total at 2:02 of the second with a snap shot from the right circle that sailed past the right shoulder of Ruzicka. Alex Green picked up an assist on Richards' fourth goal of the season.

The Buccaneers cut into the Stars lead later in the second period with two goals before the second intermission. Goals from Reed Lebster and Isaac Johnson made it 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Lincoln held onto the one-goal lead until Des Moines brought a flurry of pressure at 16:30 of the third. Kobe Roth found the loose puck out of the net scramble to tap behind Cayden Primeau.

Frank was the hero in three-on-three overtime as he drove the net from the right side and slid a backhand between the legs of Ruzicka for the game-winning goal. Green was credited with his second assist of the night on the goal.

Lincoln finished 0/1 on the power play and did not take a penalty.

Primeau finished with 24 saves.
