McNeely Nets Two Goals in Loss to Steelheads

North Charleston, S.C. - Forward Tyler McNeely netted two goals, but the South Carolina Stingrays (20-22-1-3) fell to the Idaho Steelheads (26-10-1-4) 4-3 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday evening.
After a scoreless opening period, Steelheads forward Ian Watters lit the lamp on the power play at 7:09 of the second frame tipping a shot from former Stingrays defenseman Patrick Cullity past netminder Jeff Jakaitis (L, 20 saves on24 shots). The Stingrays responded with a tally from forward Justin Courtnall ripping a shot over the left pad of Steelheads goaltender Tyler Beskorowany (W, 37 saves on 40 shots) from the bottom of the right-wing circle. Defenseman Scooter Vaughan picked up the lone assist. Less than a minute later, forward Sam Carrick gave the Steelheads a 2-1 lead from forwards Brett Robinson and David Toews.
Forward Austin Fyten made it 3-1 Steelheads 1:10 into the third period. McNeely pulled the game back within one at 3:13 with help from forward Robby Dee and defenseman Luka Vidmar. Former Greenville Road Warrior Andrew Carroll put the Steelheads back up by two with a man-advantage marker at 16:17. McNeely added his second goal of the game on the power play with two seconds to play from forwards Andrew Cherniwchan and Dee. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play while the Steelheads went 2-for-2.
