Omaha Lancers News Release

Madison, WI - For the second straight game the Lancers scored first, but Dryden McKay stood tall in the Madison cage, pushing the Capitols to a 4-1 victory.

Joe Berg, playing in his fourth USHL game, recorded his first career USHL goal. The Lancers set a season high for shots in a period and game putting rubber on net 18 times in the first, and 42 times overall.

Joe Berg's first USHL tally broke the ice in the first period. Cutting across from the left to right Berg collected his own rebound before sending the puck past Dryden McKay and into the back of the net to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Omaha had a pair of chances on the man-advantage to double the lead, but it was the Capitols who got on the scoreboard evening the game up. Eugene Fadyeyev collected a puck just on the outskirts of the crease with less than a minute left in the period and knocked it past Tommy Nappier to tie the game at 1-1. Omaha outshot the Capitols 18-15 in the opening frame.

It was the final minute of the period that caused trouble for the Lancers in the second period just like it had in the first. Ryan Bederka's shot squeezed through the legs of Tommy Nappier and moved in slow motion towards the Omaha cage. Sensing an opportunity Kamil Sadlocha swooped in and tapped the puck into the net to give the Capitols a 2-1 lead with 1:01 left in the second.

In the third Madison capitalized on the man-advantage when Verners Egle scored his first of the season just 4:26 into the period. Madison held onto the 3-1 lead as the game headed into the final minutes. With the goaltender pulled Kamil Sadlocha added his second of the game to cap off the scoring at 4-1.

Omaha finished the night 0-for-4 on the man advantage. Madison was 1-for-2.

Tommy Nappier made 28 saves on 31 shots in the loss, while Dryden McKay finished with 41 saves on 42 shots.
