Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Late-season addition Sam McCormick arrived in time to help the Waterloo Black Hawks secure a berth in the 2016 Clark Cup Playoffs, and Wednesday the United States Hockey League named him to the circuit's All-USHL Third Team.

A poll of league general managers determined the players who were selected for the honor.

The De Pere, Wisconsin, native joined the Black Hawks for the final 14 scheduled regular season games. In that time, he recorded eight goals and seven assists. McCormick's stay in the Cedar Valley was highlighted by a pair of multigoal performances: March 12th at home against the Sioux Falls Stampede and April 1st on the road versus the Lincoln Stars. During the Clark Cup Playoffs, he added another five points (three goals, two assists), including the game-winning score in the Hawks' 2-1 series-opening road win against the Lincoln Stars on April 15th.

McCormick was acquired from the Madison Capitols, for whom he played during the 2014/15 schedule as well as the first 47 games this year. With 24 goals and 18 assists for the Caps in 2015/16, McCormick's regular season point total added up to 57. That count tied him for eighth in the USHL with fellow Madison/Waterloo teammate Ryan Lohin and the Stars' Ludvig Hoff.

McCormick is committed to Ohio State University.
