Trask leads team with three-point night in road win over Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Macon Mayhem scored four unanswered goals in the final two periods of the game, as they defeated the Fayetteville Marksmen on the road 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The opening period was a high-scoring one, as each team scored two goals in the first frame. The Mayhem jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but it was erased by two Fayetteville power play goals in the second half of the period. Jake Trask scored his 15th goal of the season to take the 1-0 lead, while Darren McCormick collected his 18th goal on the man advantage to take the two-goal lead. Jamie Hill and Bryan Dellaire scored the power play goals to tie the game for Fayetteville.

The second period also had four goals scored between the two times, but Macon outscored Fayetteville 3-1 in this one. The Marksmen got the scoring started with their third power play goal of the game to take the 3-2 lead, but the Mayhem responded with three goals to take the 5-3 lead. Jake Trask tied the game up, scoring the team's second penalty shot goal of the season. Dylan Denomme then gave the Mayhem the lead back, tipping a Daniel Echeverri shot past the Fayetteville goaltender. The third Mayhem goal of the period came when John Siemer jammed home the power play goal, giving Macon the 5-3 lead.

Macon survived a five-minute major power play, as Ronsberg was called for kneeing halfway through the third period. The Mayhem killed off the long power play, and Caleb Cameron scored an insurance goal just two seconds after the penalty expired. They survived the final five minutes to skate away with a 6-3 victory.
