February 6, 2018 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Mayhem News Release

LAST GAME PLAYED:

After the Mayhem defeated Mississippi 6-1 on Friday, the RiverKings bounced back and defeated Macon 8-3 on Saturday. Mississippi scored six consecutive goals in the second and third periods to open up an 8-2 lead.

SCOUTING THE RIVERKINGS:

After starting out the season 10-3-0, Mississippi has been hurt by injury and ECHL loans, going 6-14-2 over their last 22. Leading goal scorer Dillan Fox is currently on loan to the ECHL. Despite scoring eight goals on Saturday, Mississippi ranks just 7th in the league in goals per game at 2.97. Behind goaltender Tyler Green, they rank 4th in goals against per game at 3.17. A great matchup in this game will be one of the league's top power plays against one of the best penalty kills. Mississippi ranks 2nd in penalty kill at 87.0%, and they will have to subdue the league's 2nd best power play, as Macon's PP sits at 22.2%. The Mayhem are 16-4-3 when they score a PP goal this season.

THE BOYS ARE BACK:

After being loaned to the ECHL last week, winger Jake Trask and defenseman Brandon Pfeil have returned from their loans. Trask now ranks second in the SPHL in points with 42, but he still leads the Mayhem in assists (26) and points. Brandon Pfeil has one goal, 12 assists and 13 points in 33 games this season. Him and Trask are tied for the team's lead in plus- minus at plus-18.

SCORING JUGGERNAUT:

After scoring nine goals in two games last weekend, the Mayhem lead the SPHL in goals per game at 4.03. They have now scored five or more goals in 12 of their 33 games this year, and they are 11-0-1 when that happens.

BACK IN ACTION:

The Mayhem travel to Fayetteville to take on the Marksmen on Saturday night before returning home to battle for second place with the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday.
