Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks Head Coach Scott Hillman announced Wednesday the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed two-time CHL All-Star defenseman Mike Burgoyne. The Mavericks have also signed goaltender Alexandre Vincent to a five-game tryout. In order to make room on the roster, Missouri waived defenseman Shaun Arvai.

Burgoyne, 28 (12/28/80), played six games with the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings this season before coming to Missouri. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman spent last year in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants. In 71 games for the Giants he scored 58 points (17-41=58) and added 72 minutes in penalties, while helping the franchise win its first ever Challenge Cup.

"Mike is exactly what we have been looking for," said Hillman. "Having a veteran player that can run our power play effectively will be a huge asset. He will improve our transition game, and he has an incredible ability to find a way to clear the puck when under heavy pressure. This is a big signing for our hockey club."

Prior to playing overseas, Burgoyne spent two seasons with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL where he put up his best offensive numbers. In 128 games with Oklahoma City he notched 116 points (38-78=116) while tallying 164 penalty minutes. In both seasons with the Blazers, he led the team in assists and points and was named a CHL All-Star.

For his professional career, Burgoyne has played in 334 games scoring 75 goals and 155 assists for 230 points and 360 minutes in penalties.

Vincent, 22 (12/11/86), signed a five-game contract with the Mavericks. The Drummondville, Quebec native was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fourth round (114 overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-4, 214-pound netminder played the last two seasons with the CHL's Odessa Jackalopes and had a 37-14-7 record.

"Alexandre Vincent is a big goalie that has played two very good years in this league," exclaimed Hillman. "He has a great winning percentage and is very excited to come here and compete for a job. We have been struggling to get a big save when we really need it and Alex has the ability to make the big save."

Arvai, 27 (10/6/82), was waived from Missouri after playing 13 games. He finished with three points (1-2=3) and 21 penalty minutes with the Mavericks.

Mavericks' single-game tickets are now on sale at the box office at Independence Events Center. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday game days. Visit www.MissouriMavericks.com for more information.
