Kansas City Mavericks News Release

ALLEN, Texas - The Kansas City Mavericks (33-29-2-2) bounced back emphatically from a Friday night setback with a 6-1 win on Saturday over the Allen Americans (32-27-5-2) to close out the teams' regular season series.

Kansas City got a boost on the offensive end from Shawn Pauly and Brogan O'Brien. Pauly extended his goal-scoring streak to four games as he lit the lamp twice on Saturday, now with six goals in that span. O'Brien, meanwhile, shined in his ECHL debut with an assist on Pauly's first goal and a short-handed goal in the second period.

The Mavericks started fast, running up a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal en route to Pauly depositing his first of the evening just 3:34 into the game for an early 1-0 lead. Jared VanWormer followed suit, lighting the lamp on a backhand wrap-around to double the cushion into the first intermission.

Kansas City seized control of the game in the second period, capitalizing on scores from O'Brien shorthanded, Matt Robertson on the power play - his 20th of the season, and Pauly's second of the night for a 5-0 lead through 40 minutes of play.

Both teams found the back of the net in the third period, Alex Brooks connecting for the Mavericks and Casey Pierro-Zabotel for Allen - his 19th goal of the season and 500th career point.

The Mavericks continue their road trip with a pair of divisional games next week at Fort Wayne on Wednesday and Indy on Friday.
