Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks will hold their inaugural Education Day Game on Tuesday, November 15 when they take on the Allen Americans at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The game will start at 10:35 a.m. and schools throughout the Kansas City area are invited to attend.
"We are thrilled to be hosting our first ever Education Day Game," said Mavericks general manager Brent Thiessen. "The students who come out are going to experience the excitement of Mavericks hockey while also learning about how science, math, geography and other school subjects impact the game of hockey."
The Mavericks will weave education into every element of the game day experience on November 15. There will be interactive educational activities featuring team partners KSMO-TV, Sky Zone and Cosmosphere. KSMO-TV Chief Meteorologist Chris Suchan will make a special appearance, and the Mavericks will distribute a hockey-themed education workbook that is tailored to students in Grades 3-5.
Additionally, Central Bank of the Midwest will host a "Dash for Cash" contest during first intermission as five local teachers will race to collect a share of $1,000 to benefit their respective schools. All tickets for the Mavericks' Education Day Game are just $13. They can be ordered by calling the Mavericks office at 816-252-7825.
