INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks announced Thursday the Central Hockey League (CHL) team has signed four forwards for the 2011-12 season. Derek Pallardy re-signed for his third season in Missouri and forwards John-Scott Dickson, Matt Dias and Lachlan MacIntosh have all been signed to the Mavericks' pre-season roster.
"We are happy to add goal scoring and size to our roster today," said Mavericks' President and General Manager Brent Thiessen. "We are very excited about the new faces and of course happy to return a familiar face in Derek Pallardy."
Pallardy, 28 (7/16/83), enters his third season with the Mavericks and fourth for coach Scott Hillman. The Chesterfield, Missouri native had his best season as a pro in 2010-11 in which he had 26 points (9-1726) in 57 games played for Missouri. In 118 total games with the Mavericks, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward has 44 points (13-3144) and 99 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the Mavericks, Pallardy played for Coach Hillman in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) for the Knoxville Ice Bears for one season. In total, he has 19 goals, 36 assists and 117 penalty minutes in his three-year career.
"Derek has been a solid performer for us the last two seasons," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "He works very hard and is an excellent penalty killer. He has earned himself a spot the last two years and is excited to compete for a spot this season."
Dickson, 27 (4/10/84), heads into his sophomore season after playing 54 games in the ECHL last season with Idaho and Gwinnett. The North York, Ontario native played five seasons for the University of New Brunswick and won two CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) National Championships before turning pro. He finished his collegiate career with 50 goals and 78 assists for 128 points in 111 games played. After finishing his college career in 2010, the 6-foot-3, 214-pound forward played in nine games with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Rochester Americans where he recorded two assists. He then played in 15 playoff games with ECHL Idaho where he accounted for 10 points on five goals and five assists. In his first season as a pro in 2010-11, Dickson had eight goals and 18 assists in 54 games split between Idaho and Gwinnet in the ECHL.
"John-Scott is very excited to be joining the Mavericks and we are very excited to add him to our roster," said Hillman. "We believe John-Scott brings us big goal potential, and although entering just his second season of pro hockey, he has incredible winning experience with two CIS National Championships (New Brunswick), AHL experience and he also went deep into the ECHL playoffs. He is a winner and we believe he will be a key component to us achieving our goals this season."
Dias, 23 (4/29/88), comes to the Mavericks after playing his rookie season for Milano in the Italian Serie A2 league last season. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward averaged nearly a goal per game with Milano, and had 36 points (21-1536) and 49 penalty minutes in just 22 games played. Prior to turning pro, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native played one season for Lakehead University and four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Sudbury Wolves. He also played in six games in the ECHL as an amateur over two seasons where he had two goals and four assists in six games.
"Matt Dias is a very consistent performer and has put points on the board at every level he has played including his two short stints in the ECHL as an amateur," added Hillman. "We have been pursuing him for a few seasons and are very happy to have him joining the Mavericks."
MacIntosh, 25 (12/9/85), enters his rookie season after playing the previous five seasons with the University of New Brunswick. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward played alongside John-Scott Dickson during four of his campaigns with New Brunswick and captured three CIS National Championships. "Lachlan had a couple huge offensive years in Tier II hockey prior to heading to university where he was a big part of three national championship teams in five years," said Hillman. "He was a very consistent performer on a very good hockey club, and he brings us a great deal of leadership and offensive potential for a first-year pro."
