Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the Pacific Coast League have announced that Sky Sox infielder Matt Clark has been named the PCL Player of the Week for the period from Aug. 31-Sept. 7.

Clark owned the PCL's best slugging percentage (.960) and OPS (1.541) this week, while also leading the league in run scored (nine) and doubles (six). The first baseman also ranked second in batting average (.548), extra-base hits (eight), and on-base percentage (.581). He logged five multi-hit games during the week, including a three-hit performance on Sunday. That same day, Clark drove in three runs to help the Sky Sox to a 9-2 win over New Orleans. The left-handed hitter belted two home runs during the week, highlighted by an estimated 463-foot blast on Monday vs. Omaha, the second-longest of the season at Security Service Field. Clark held team-highs in several offensive statistics this season for Colorado Springs, including home runs (20) and batting average (.291).

The 28-year-old completed his second season in the Brewers' organization, having signed with Milwaukee on July 4, 2014. Clark made his major league debut last season, appearing in 16 games for the Brewers. The Player of the Week honor is the fifth of his career and his second from the PCL. The Sky Sox have won two Player of the Week awards this season, with Luis Sardinas also being recognized on Aug. 17. This is the first time Colorado Springs has had multiple position players win weekly awards in the same season since Joe Koshansky and Ian Stewart accomplished the feat in 2008.
