February 23, 2005 - NBA G League (G League)
Roanoke Dazzle News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C., February 23 – The Charlotte Bobcats have signed Roanoke Dazzle guard Matt Carroll, making him the seventh GATORADE Call-Up of the National Basketball Development League season and the second in as many days from the Roanoke Dazzle. In a related move, the Bobcats placed Steve Smith on the injured list due to right knee tendonitis.

Carroll is the 46th overall GATORADE Call-Up since the NBDL began play in November 2001. This is the third NBDL-to-NBA promotion this season for the Dazzle. James Thomas signed a 10-day deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday after completing a pair of 10-day contracts with the Portland Trail Blazers in January.

The leading scorer in the NBDL, Carroll averaged 20.1 points in 24 games (18 starts) for the Dazzle. He also led the D-League in three-point field goal percentage at .605 (23-38). In a rules experiment this season in the NBDL, three point field goals are only counted in the final three minutes of each quarter and in all of overtime.

Carroll earned NBDL Player of the Month for games played in January after averaging 22.3 points and converting 48.9-percent from the field (88-of-180) through 11 games. He was also good on 64.3-percent from behind the three-point line (9-of-14) and made 60-of-69 free throw attempts (.870). He helped lead the Dazzle to a 7-4 record in the month.
