Match Preview: Sacramento Republic FC vs Arizona United SC

Sacramento Republic FC (7-3-3, 24 pts) travel to Peoria, Ariz. to take on Arizona United SC (4-5-3, 15 pts) at the Peoria Sports Complex on Saturday, June 25. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. The match will be streamed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday.

This will be the second meeting between Republic FC and Arizona United SC this season. Republic FC earned a 1-0 victory in the first matchup between the two sides on April 2. Cameron Iwasa scored the lone goal of the match in the 84th minute to give Republic FC the late victory.

Republic FC enter the match on a seven-match unbeaten streak and three-match win streak after defeating the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros 3-2 on Saturday, June 18. Iwasa scored two goals in the match, but Republic FC needed an 87th minute goal from Emrah Klimenta after the Toros equalized twice in the match.

Iwasa was named USL Player of the Week after his two goal, one assist performance against the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. It was Iwasa's first career brace and his third goal in the last two matches. Iwasa will look to score in his third consecutive match on Saturday, a tally that would tie Republic FC's all-time record for consecutive matches with a goal.

Klimenta scored his second goal of the season, a match-winning goal against the Toros. This season, Klimenta has recorded six points, which is second on the club, trailing only Iwasa (11). Klimenta's six points ties his career-high for points in a season, matching his points output from the 2015 season.

Arizona United SC come into the match on a three-match unbeaten streak after drawing 1-1 with the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on Wednesday, June 22. Arizona has earned seven points during their three-match unbeaten streak, after earning just nine in their first 10 matches of the season.

Arizona has seen a resurgence on both offense and defense in their last three matches. During the first ten matches of the season Arizona scored just 0.7 goals per match and allowed 1.4 goals against per match. During their three-match unbeaten streak, Arizona has scored 1.67 goals per match and allowed just 0.67 goals against.

Forwards Luke Rooney and Tyler Blackwood joined Arizona in April and have made their impact felt. Blackwood leads the club in goals with three while Rooney leads the club with three assists. Both players played in England before coming to Arizona.

Republic FC will be hosting their official watch party at de Vere's Irish Pub in downtown Sacramento, located at 1521 L St. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for best seat selection.
