Philadelphia enters the 2017 campaign after earning a trip to the MLS postseason in 2016. Their playoff appearance was the second in club history. Philadelphia fell to eventual Eastern Conference champions Toronto FC in the knockout round of the playoffs. Philadelphia had a record setting season setting all-time club bests in goals scored, home wins, goals scored on the road and assists recorded on the road.
A player to watch for Philadelphia is goalkeeper Andre Blake. The starting keeper for the Jamaican National Team is coming off a sensation season. In his first full season in the Philadelphia net, Blake was named the starter in the 2016 MLS All-Star Game against English Premier League power Arsenal. His personal bests in starts, wins and shutouts in 2016 were enough to win voters across the country as Blake was awarded MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
Vancouver will look to bounce back in 2017 after finishing eighth in the Western Conference and missing the playoffs. The Whitecaps are managed by Carl Robinson.
