Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union will wrap up their two-game road trip this Saturday when they take on the top team in MLS, Colorado Rapids. Philadelphia has gone unbeaten in their last six matches and sit on top of the Eastern Conference. Kick-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. (EST) and will be televised on The Comcast Network.
Philadelphia is 1-3-4 all-time against Colorado, but owns a 1-1-1 record at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Their last match at this venue resulted in a 2-1 victory in 2013. The last time the Union lost in Colorado was on Sept. 29, 2010 during their inaugural season.
The Union will look to continue their form after earning a 2-2 draw in their last match against Orlando City SC on Wednesday. Philadelphia jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to Tranquillo Barnetta. The Swiss midfielder found a pass from Chris Pontius in the box and gave Philadelphia the early lead. The Union then fell behind 2-1, but Ken Tribbett recorded his first MLS goal to give the team a much-deserved point.
Philadelphia is currently in the middle of a six-game, 22-day stretch. In their first four matches they've recorded a 1-0-3 record. Their ability to earn points has been crucial in their quest to stay at the top of the table in the Eastern Conference. The Union will enter Saturday's match in first place with 19 points and leading the East with 1.58 points per game.
Colorado enters Saturday's match as the top team in MLS. The Rapids have accumulated 27 points in 13 matches. They've allowed an astounding nine goals this season which is by far the fewest given up in MLS. In net for Colorado is former Union keeper Zac MacMath. Colorado is managed by Pablo Mastroeni. The former Rapids' standout holds club records for most games played (225), games started (217) and minutes played (18,669), and served as the Rapids captain.
