Match Preview: Fury FC Excited for Home Opener

April 29, 2016 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA, ON - After a four-game road trip to open the 2016 NASL season, Ottawa Fury FC finally return home to TD Place for a four-game home stand beginning Saturday against expansion side Miami FC. Head coach Paul Dalglish and his players hope that the return home - where Fury FC were so successful last year with an 8W-2L-5D record - will give them the boost they need to pick up Fury's first win of the campaign.

It's been nearly six months since Fury FC played their last home game at TD Place, a thrilling 2-1 extra-time win against Minnesota United in the NASL Championship Semifinal, in front of a boisterous crowd of 9,346 fans. Now, Fury FC hope to pick up where they left off.

Dalglish is excited to see his squad hit the pitch for the season's first match at TD Place and the gaffer is well-aware of the impact the crowd can have during a match.

"It's something that might give you that extra 5 % and give you the strength to make that run that you thought you were too tired to make," said Dalglish.

"I saw the game against Minnesota last season and if we can start recreating that atmosphere every game it's going to help us pick up points. Also, you want to make your home field a fortress, you want to make people intimidated when they come here and we will take our first step in doing that Saturday."

Although Fury FC did not get the start they wanted in their first four games of the season, there have been positive signs that the club is building towards a positive result, especially in terms of passing accuracy where Ottawa stands second in the NASL with a 79% pass completion percentage.
