What to watch for Sunday...

* In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers have partnered with AutoNation and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation on the #DrivePink Campaign. The partnership will see the Strikers wear special pink jerseys for each match in October beginning with this match against New York. * Fort Lauderdale is undefeated against the league-leading Cosmos this season having defeated New York 2-1 in Fort Lauderdale on June 4 and drawn 0-0 in Lauderhill on September 3. * Fort Lauderdale's last trip to New York was a 2-1 defeat in the NASL Championship Semifinal on November 7, 2015. The Strikers struck first in the match behind a goal from PC but New York came back and scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. The match ended in controversial fashion as Jose Angulo's apparent 89th minute equalizer was disallowed due to an apparent offside. * Fort Lauderdale has never won a season series against New York. A win or draw Sunday would ensure the Strikers capture the 2016 series. * The Strikers have lost all four previous meetings with the Cosmos in New York in the modern era. This streak dates back to the Cosmos first game in the current era of NASL play, a 2-1 win for New York on August 3, 2013. In that game the Cosmos scored a stoppage time winner. That match also marked the coaching debut for Gî1/4nter Kronsteiner who would lead the Strikers to postseason appearances in 2014 and 2015. * Amuari recorded his fourth goal for Fort Lauderdale in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Puerto Rico. The former Italian National Team player signed with the Strikers on August 9. * The Strikers signed Pascal Millien and Junior Sandoval on September 23. Millien has played all 180 minutes for Fort Lauderdale since signing and Sandoval started Wednesday in Puerto Rico after coming off the bench on September 24 against Tampa Bay. * Manny Gonzalez made his 63rd competitive appearance for the Strikers on Wednesday night in Puerto Rico. This places the midfielder 8th on Fort Lauderdale's all-time appearance list. Gonzalez is 17 matches away equaling all-time leader Darnell King who played for the Strikers between 2012 and 2014 .
