Marino, Rizk, Hegarty Return to Komet Fold; Walleye Visit Friday

Fort Wayne, IN ---The Komets announced today that Brandon Marino (RW) and J.M. Rizk (RW) are returning to Fort Wayne after making their American Hockey League (AHL) debut Tuesday night with the Admirals at Norfolk. Also, Ryan Hegarty (D) has been reassigned to the Komets by Norfolk.

Marino and Rizk have each appeared in 40 Komet games this season. Marino leads the Komets with 32 assists, 44 points and +7. Rizk leads with 15 goals while adding 10 assists for 25 points.

Hegarty was loaned to the Komets by Norfolk prior to the start of the 2012-13 campaign and appeared in 28 games with the Komets (1g, 3pts, 16pim) before being recalled to Norfolk Jan. 12. The rookie defenseman did not see any action with the Admirals before being reassigned to Fort Wayne.

The Komets also announced today that Jeremy Gates (D) and Ron Cramer (F) have been released. Gates and Cramer will be returning to Pensacola of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Gates was called up by the Komets Jan. 10 and appeared in five games (1a, 2pim). Cramer was called up Jan. 12 and skated three games (2pim).

Meanwhile, the Komets have loaned Brent Henley (D) to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL). 2012-13 is Henley's 11th pro year. He has previously skated 109 AHL career games in stints with Lowel, Rochester, Toronto, Edmonton, Springfield, Norfolk and Hartford. Henley has appeared in 37 games to date with the Komets this season (1g, 9a, 127pim). The defenseman may see action this weekend when the Monsters visit Hershey Friday and Syracuse Saturday.

Komets host Toledo Friday - The Komets will host the Toledo Walleye Friday night at 8:00. It's the seventh of 11 meetings between the division rivals and the fifth of seven Toledo visits. The Komets have not solved the Walleye in four previous games on Coliseum ice but have won both visits to Toledo so far this season. Toledo is winless in their last five games (0-3-2) since a 2-0 win at Kalamazoo Jan. 4.
