January 8, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact and Marco Schallibaum announced on Tuesday the names of the coaching staff at a press conference introducing the newly hired head coach.
Impact assistant coach Mauro Biello reprises his role with the club, along with fitness coach Paolo Pacione, who joined the team in 2012 at season's end.
New assistant coach
Impact Academy director and former head coach of the U21 side Philippe Eullaffroy has been named an assistant coach of the first team.
Eullaffroy, who will remain the Impact Academy's director, has been with the club since 2009, as head coach of the reserve team. He led the team to the regular season championship and to its first playoff championship. He was then named the Canadian Soccer League Coach of the Year.
Last season, he led the Impact U21 team to the second best record in the Canadian Soccer League (14-3-5) and came one goal shy of winning the playoffs, falling 1-0 to Toronto Croatia in the championship game.
As head coach of Quebec's provincial Under-18 team, he led the squad to a Gold Medal during the 2009 Canada Games. He previously coached the Stade de Reims and Troyes professional club academies from 1999 to 2005. After moving to Quebec in 2005, he served as the McGill Redmen's head coach from 2005 to 2008 and was named Coach of the Year on three occasions.
Goalkeeper Coach
Impact Academy Goalkeeper Coach Youssef Dahha has also been promoted to the first team.
Dahha, who served as the Academy Goalkeeper Coach last season, first joined the Impact first team in 2004. He helped the team win regular season titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006, along with playoff championships in 2004 and 2009. He worked with the likes of Greg Sutton, Matt Jordan and current goalkeeper Bush over the years, helping both Bush and Sutton win Goalkeeper of the Year awards.
Dahha will continue to work with the Academy's goalkeepers in a supervisory role.
Academy changes
With these additions to the first team, changes to the Academy's technical staff include the promotion of Wilfried Nancy from U18 to U21 head coach; Jason DiTullio goes from U16 to U18 head coach, Simon Gatti becomes the U16 bench boss, while former U21 assistant Nicolas Gagnon becomes the head coach of the U14s. Antoine Guldner remains with the U13s. Yannick Girard has been named assistant coach to Nancy with the Impact U21. Owen Braun is now the Goalkeeper Coach with the Academy, adding to his responsibilities as Sports-Etudes Goalkeeper coach.
