Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle (25-29) took a 5-1 loss against the Bradenton Marauders (32-22) on Thursday night.

RHP Brady Anderson (L, 2-1) was handed his first loss of the season. In the bottom of the first, Will Craig lifted a two-run home run to left field. In the second, Casey Hughston supplied a two-out triple to bring in Kevin Krause for the third run of the game. Cole Tucker then plated Hughston with a single to give the Marauders a 4-0 lead. Logan Hill contributed an RBI-single in the seventh as well.

The Fort Myers offense put runners on base in every inning, but failed to score until the ninth. RHP Bret Helton (W, 3-0) worked through six innings allowing seven hits while recording three strikeouts.

In the top of the ninth, a hit-by-pitch brought in Fort Myers' first run since the second inning of Tuesday's game, snapping a 24-inning scoreless streak. After the HBP, Sean Miller came to the plate as the tying run with the bases loaded, but was struck out by Yunior Montero to end the game.

The Miracle look to avoid a four-game sweep on Friday night with RHP Dereck Rodriguez on the mound. He goes up against LHP Taylor Hearn with first pitch at 6:30 PM ET.
