Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose (9-7-1-1) faced off against their long-time rivals, the Chicago Wolves (8-9-1-1), on Sunday afternoon. The Moose powerplay struck early to give Manitoba the lead 3:07 into the game. Jack Roslovic sent the puck down low to Quinton Howden who went cross-crease for Dan DeSalvo and the Illinois native potted his fifth of the season. The 1-0 score held to the break with Ondrej Pavelec making 12 saves in the Moose net.

Moose special teams were the story of the second period. The Manitoba penalty kill came up with three stops against the Wolves powerplay (ranked eighth entering the game). The powerplay also supplied a second goal. Prior to that, Chicago tied the game off the stick of Scooter Vaughn as he fired one in off the wing with 3:16 left in the period. The Moose regained the lead when Jack Roslovic raced in on the powerplay and picked the far side of the net with 12 seconds remaining in the period to take a 2-1 lead to the third.

The third period remained as tight-checking as the first two. The teams allowed a combined 15 shots in the final twenty. Ondrej Pavelec made eight stops in the period to help solidify Manitoba's 2-1 victory. The win gives the Moose two straight on the road and wins in three of four away from the MTS Centre.
