Toronto Lynx News Release

Thursday, February 12, 2004 (TORONTO, ON) - The Manchester United Supporters Club of Canada (MUSC Canada) is pleased to announce an official partnership with the Toronto Lynx Soccer Club of the North American A-League. Kevin Kerr, Chairman of the Club enthuses, “We are tremendously excited to be partnering with the Lynx and supporting the development of grass roots soccer in Canada. The Lynx are firmly committed to the development of young soccer players through their various youth programs and we are pleased to be a part of this exciting initiative.”

Although MUSC Canada has informally supported the Lynx over the last 7 years, David Coleman, Director of Public Relations for the Supporters Club believes that it's time that soccer fans support the Canadian game in a bigger way. He looks forward to kicking it up a notch with the Toronto Lynx. “This partnership allows us to reach out to the soccer community in the GTA and to grow our membership for supporting our beloved Reds."

MUSC Canada is the official Canadian Supporters Club of Manchester United Football Club and has been in operation since 1994 with members in Toronto and across Canada. The Club also recently launched chapters in Winnipeg and Vancouver.”

The Supporters Club are a steadfast group meeting weekly at their official pub, Elsewhere Bar and Grill, in central Toronto at Yonge and Eglinton to watch their favourite team and interact with their fellow Reds. It's not unusual to have 200-300 MUSC Canada members and supporters from other teams at these gatherings. Coleman continues, “Our Club arranges trips to see United at Old Trafford in Manchester, as well as organizing annual events such as golf tournaments, Christmas parties and other socials. We have already begun organizing a trip to the USA for members this coming July to see Manchester United in their pre-season tour.”

The partnership with the Lynx will include features such as an official MUSCC Night at the Lynx home opener on May 16, joint advertising initiatives and activities with the Toronto Lynx Supporters Club.
