Manchester opened the scoring when Rihards Bukarts scored his 12th goal of the season at 3:46 of the first period. Cory Ward hit Bukarts with a perfect pass in the slot, and Bukarts redirected the puck past Stingrays goaltender, Joe Cannata, to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.

The Stingrays tied the game when Flick scored his 21st goal of the year at 12:11 of the opening period. Flick fired a wrister from the top of the left circle past the glove of Monarchs goaltender, Jonah Imoo, to tie the game, 1-1.

The Monarchs regained the lead when Matt Leitner potted his 10th goal of the season at 13:45 of the first period. Leitner found the rebound on the doorstep after a Thomas Schemitsch shot was stopped by Cannata, and poked the puck through the five-hole of the Stingrays goaltender to make the score, 2-1, Monarchs.

Flick tied the game for a second time when he scored his 2nd goal of the game at 11:33 of the second period. With a delayed penalty coming on the Monarchs, Flick banked a shot from behind the net off Tyler Elbrecht who was in the crease, and the puck redirected past Imoo to make the score, 2-2.

South Carolina took the lead late in the second period when Scott Tanski scored his 7th goal of the season at 19:18 while on the power play. Tanski found the back of the net after Imoo made the initial stop on a shot by Flick, but the rebound fell directly to Tanski who had an open net to shoot into, making the score, 3-2, Stingrays.

The Stingrays increased their lead when Marcus Perrier scored his 6th goal of the season at 8:48 of the final frame. John Parker drove the net and got a shot on Imoo that the Monarchs goaltender saved, but the rebound kicked out to Perrier who swatted the puck into the net to push the South Carolina lead to 4-2.

Flick completed his hat-trick at 13:34 of the final frame when he netted a power-play-goal. Flick was the final piece of a tic-tac-toe passing play that ended with a one-timer from the right dot that beat Imoo, making the score, 5-2, Stingrays.

The Monarchs return to the ice Saturday, Feb. 18 (7:05 p.m.), when they complete their two-games series with the South Carolina Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum.
