September 21, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards today announced their 2016-17 promotion schedule, headlined by opening night fireworks, $2 Beer/$2 Dog Fridays presented by 97X, a quartet of game worn jersey auctions and, as part of the team's twentieth season celebrations, Mallard alumni weekend January 13 and 14. Single game tickets for all regular season home games go on sale next Monday, September 26, the Mallards further announced.

Individual tickets for each of the Mallards' 36 regular season home tilts will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Fans can purchase single game tickets in person at the iWireless Center box office, by calling TicketMaster charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 or online at myqcmallards.net.

The Mallards' historic twentieth season in the Quad Cities will kick off with a bang on Friday, October 14 with Mallards Opening Night presented by Stoney Creek Inn. A fireworks display will light up the sky over the iWireless Center after the Mallards play the arch rival Fort Wayne Komets. The first 1,000 fans to arrive at that game will receive free Mallards 2016-17 schedule posters. After the opener, fans can head to Blackwater Jack's Saloon at Stoney Creek Inn in downtown Moline for a postgame party at which Mallards players and the Mallards Ice Girls will be among the guests.

The curtain raiser will also be the first of 16 $2 Beer/$2 Dog Fridays presented by 97X. In addition, every Friday game will be a MetroLINK College Night this season. The Mallards have once again partnered with Metro to provide transit service between Augustana College and downtown Moline during all Friday home games. As part of Metro's unlimited ride program, Augustana riders can use their Augustana ID as their fare.

The opener will also be the first of a series of Mallards games that will benefit Quad Cities area non-profit organizations. The opening night beneficiary will be Gigi's Playhouse, a one-of-a-kind achievement center for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the community. A portion of the proceeds from tickets for the opener purchased at the Mallards' business office or at Gigi's Playhouse will be donated to the Playhouse.

The Mallards' home schedule is packed with popular returning promotions, including the continuation of the Mallards' long running partnership with Genesis Health System, with whom the Mallards will team for a pair of jersey auctions to benefit the Genesis Health Services Foundation. The first of those two auctions will see not only the special edition jerseys worn by the Mallards in their Saturday, January 14, game against Fort Wayne go up for bid, but also the same jerseys worn by the Mallards' alumni in their game earlier that day. On Saturday, March 18, KWQC-TV6 will join with the Mallards in raising funds for the Genesis Health Services Foundation by auctioning off the unique sweaters the Mallards will wear when they meet the Missouri Mavericks that evening.

For the third year in a row, the Mallards will wear military-themed jerseys to benefit VFW Post 1303 in Rock Island. The Flock will don those jerseys on Veterans' Day- Friday, November 11- when they mark Military Appreciation Night against the Toledo Walleye. The Mallards will then sport their VFW jerseys in warm-ups before each of their home games until wearing them during and auctioning them following the Friday, March 31 game against the Alaska Aces. The Mallards' last home game- Friday, April 7 against Fort Wayne- will bring a final jersey auction. The twentieth season throwback jerseys worn by the Mallards in select games will be auctioned off after the regular season finale and will be handed over to the winning bidders after the end of the Mallards' playoff run should the Mallards qualify.

Over Alumni Weekend, Genesis will team with the Flock to honor the Mallard greats who first wore those original jerseys. Former Mallards will be introduced before the Friday, January 13 game against the Indy Fuel and will greet fans and sign autographs during that game. Mallards fans of long standing will no doubt be thrilled when those Quad Cities legends return to the iWireless Center ice for the alumni game the following day before the current edition of the Mallards meets the Komets that evening.

Young fans will be among the big winners at the Mallards' Saturday, November 19 game against the Wheeling Nailers that will immediately follow the annual Lighting on the Commons. Families attending Lighting on the Commons on nearby John Deere Commons in downtown Moline will receive vouchers good for free kids' tickets to the Mallards' game. With an especially large crowd expected that evening, the curtains that this season will limit the capacity for Mallards games to 5,100 will be raised to accommodate that throng, which will no doubt create a super-charged atmosphere inside the iWireless Center. A portion of ticket proceeds from that game will go to the Salvation Army just as the Salvation Army's annual holiday Red Kettle Campaign kicks off.

Youngsters will doubtless also look forward to the Mallards' Sunday, February 26 clash with the Wichita Thunder. The Mallards and WQAD News 8 will provide free Mallards youth replica jerseys for the first 1,000 fans 12 and under through the doors that afternoon. Grown-ups will not be left out of the free jersey fun, however. The first 1,000 fans 13 and older who arrive for the Mallards' Friday, February 10 match-up with the Kalamazoo Wings will receive replica jerseys courtesy of KWQC-TV6.

Saturday, February 11 will be another big evening for young Mallards fans: Princess and Pirate Night. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite animated princesses or pirates when attending the Mallards' game against the Elmira Jackals. In addition, the Frozen princesses, who have proven highly popular at the iWireless Center in seasons past, will make a return appearance at that contest.

The Mallards encourage fans of all ages to wear their scariest, funniest or most bizarre costumes for a Halloween costume contest during the Saturday, October 29 duel between the Mallards and Tulsa Oilers. In addition, kids in costume will have the chance to trick-or-treat their way around the iWireless Center.

The tradition of Sunday afternoon skates with the Mallards will also carry on this season. Fans who bring their skates can join all of their favorite players on the ice after each of the Mallards' five Sunday home games: November 6, November 20, February 12, February 26 and March 26. In addition, for the February 12 game between the Mallards and Elmira, fans can purchase a $1 ticket for a child 12 and under with the accompanying purchase of an adult ticket.

When the Mallards meet Wheeling on Saturday, November 20, the Flock will celebrate the birthday of a special someone just a little too old for that discount: Mascot Mo Mallard. Mo's fellow area mascots will be among the honored guests at the birthday party.

The Mallards will partner with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation when the Flock engages in a Black Friday scrap with the Indy Fuel on Friday, November 25. A portion of the proceeds from tickets sold to that game will benefit JDRF.

The holiday fun will roll on when a host of lucky Mallards fans scratch their way to early Christmas gifts from the club on Friday, December 23. The first 1,000 fans to step into the iWireless Center for the Mallards' collision with Tulsa will receive free scratch cards with lucky winners taking home an array of prizes from the Mallards and the team's corporate partners.

Just after Christmas, the Mallards will honor academic excellence with Report Card Night. Each child or parent who presents a report card with an "A" or other exemplary grade at the iWireless Center box office will receive a free ticket to the Mallards' confrontation with the Indy Fuel on Wednesday, December 28. Report card night is the first of two educational initiatives to which the Mallards will welcome students in a matter of weeks. On Monday, January 16- Martin Luther King Jr. Day- the Mallards are set for a special 1:05 p.m. Education Day faceoff against Tulsa. The Mallards will offer lessons in a variety of school subjects through the prism of hockey to children taking in that game. Later in the season, the Mallards will reward area students with excellent attendance through the United Healthcare All-Star Attendance program. Children who have missed no more than two days over the course of the school year will receive free tickets to the Mallards' Sunday, March 26 game against Wichita.

With the onset of winter, the Mallards and KWQC-TV6 will do their part to keep fans warm by giving away Mallards stadium scarves to the first the 1,000 fans to enter the iWireless center when the Mallards butt heads with Missouri on Friday, December 30.

When they host Missouri on Friday, January 20, the Mallards will mark a milestone for a different hockey-playing flock by celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the greatest film in cinematic history: "The Mighty Ducks".

The Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew will land in the Quad Cities for the Mallards' game against the Rapid City Rush on Saturday, February 4. Members of the Blackhawks Ice Crew will hold a clinic for Quad Cities area cheerleaders earlier in the day before performing ice clean-up duties and meeting Mallards fans during the game.

Love will remain in the iWireless Center air just after Valentine's Day. For the second year in a row, courtesy of Doland Jewelers, one lucky couple will be married at center ice when the Mallards take on the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday, February 17.

The regular season will finish with a flourish: the Mallards' regular season home finale against the Komets on Friday, April 7 will bring not only the retro jersey auction but will also double as Fan Appreciation Night, during which the Mallards will thank the best fans in hockey with an array of special surprises.

The Mallards will announce further exciting promotions as the season progresses. Mallards 2016-17 season tickets are now available. Season ticket holders enjoy significant savings on the walk-up ticket price and receive a host of exclusive benefits. For more season ticket information, fans can contact the Mallards at 309-277-1364 or info@myqcmallards.net.
