The Potomac Nationals have made the following roster moves:
C Carlos Maldonado added on Rehab Assignment from Washington. He is wearing #44
C Sam Palace promoted from Hagerstown (A)
LHP Paul Applebee placed on 7-Day DL
Maldonado, 33, has hit .159 with 3 homers over 29 major league games with Pittsburgh and Washington. After starting the year in Syracuse (AAA), Maldonado played in four games with Washington before straining his lower back and is currently on the 15-Day DL. He made his MLB debut on September 20, 2006 with Pittsburgh hitting a single in his only at bat. Over 17 minor league seasons, Maldonado has played in 1,184 games hitting .265 with 63 home runs and 517 RBI with six different organizations. Amazingly tonight will be his first ever game at the Advanced-A level. He signed as a free agent with Washington originally in March of 2010 and has be re-signed in each of the previous two off-seasons.
