Maksimov to Represent Russia in 2016 Five Nations Tournament

SAGINAW, MI - On Monday, Saginaw Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill announced rookie forward Kirill Maksimov will play for Team Russia in the 2016 Five Nations Tournament in Plymouth, Michigan.

The USA Hockey sanctioned event will take place from February 9-13th and featured some of the best Under-17 year old players from the United States, Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic, and Finland.

"We are pleased (as an organization) that Kirill has been recognized by his home country of Russia to play in an international competition." said Drinkill.

"It will be a great experience for him to go up against some of the top players in his age group from around the world. Events like the Five Nations Tournament leave lasting memories and help develop players like Kirill on and off the ice. We are excited for him and wish him the best of luck as he competes for Russia in Plymouth."

The 2015 second round pick of the Saginaw Spirit has four goals and 10 assists through 39 games in his freshman OHL campaign. Maksimov is eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
