Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

In the midst of six games in six days against the Helena Brewers, the Missoula Osprey (5-9) won its second straight game over the Brewers (8-6), defeating Helena, 6-3, to open a three-game series from Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

Missoula received a strong pitching performance once again from right-hander Connor Grey, as Grey went the first 6.0 innings, allowing just three runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts to record his first professional victory. The Osprey are now 3-0 in games started by Grey.

Rafael Pujols was the only reliever Missoula would need on Thursday, as the right-hander entered in the seventh and retired all nine batters faced, including striking out a pair, to convert his first save of the year.

Eight of the nine Missoula starters collected at least one hit, with Luis Silverio and Tanner Hill collecting a pair. Silverio finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI hitting out of the fifth spot in the order. Jasrado Chisholm, who is hitting .341 so far this year, added another hit on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with his second homer of the season.

With Chisholm's round-tripper, Missoula has now homered 14 times in the last six games.

Trey Supak got the start for Helena, lasting 4.0 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk en route to taking the loss and falling to 1-1 on the year. Wuilder Rodriguez followed out of the bullpen, surrendering three runs, including one on Chisholm's homer, over the final 4.0 frames.

Helena got on the board first in the first inning, plating a run on an RBI-single from Ronnie Gideon to bring home Joantgel Segovia who reached with a leadoff walk, but Missoula responded with the next three runs, plating one in the third to tie the game before scoring twice in the fourth to take the lead. Silverio contributed the go-ahead RBI-double in the fourth inning before coming around to score on an RBI-single from Didimo Bracho. The double was Silverio's second of the year.

After Yeraldy Martinez blasted his third homer in the last three games for Helena to cut the deficit to one at 3-2 in the fifth, Ramon Hernandez punched an RBI-single back up the middle to respond for Missoula, leaving the tally at 4-2 headed to the sixth.

Gideon tried his best to keep Helena in the game, belting his third homer of the year in the sixth to once again make it a one-run game at 4-3, but Missoula tacked on one more in the seventh and one in the eighth to ensure victory.

Missoula will continue a string of six straight games against Helena on Friday, hosting the Brewers in game two of a three-game series at 6:35 p.m. Tomorrow's game is the second Fireworks Extravaganza of the year, and is the only Missoula fireworks show planned for the city.
