Mad Ants Corral Stampede

Indiana Mad Ants News Release

FORT WAYNE, IN - The Mad Ants knocked off the Idaho Stampede 109-98 Saturday night for back to back victories in front of a happy Fort Wayne crowd. Tony Mitchell led the Ants with 24 points and Ron Howard added 23 for the victors.

The Mad Ants had control of the first half and took a 14 point lead into the half, but the Stampede came charging out of the locker room in the third quarter and took a two point lead after a 21-4 run. The Ants finally found their footing, and they went on a 14-5 run of their own to take a nine point lead into the fourth quarter.

The lead dipped to eight after a Coby Karl three-pointer four minutes into the fourth quarter, but Anthony Richardson took matters into his own hands after that. He grabbed a missed Sadiel Rojas shot and slammed it back home. He then hit the first three of five consecutive three pointers for Fort Wayne that pushed their lead out to 23 points with five minutes to go. The game was academic from there, and the Mad Ants were able to coast to the 109-98 victory.

Idaho was led by the strong play of Durrell Summers, who had 25 points. Rookie Justin Holiday added 18 points, and Jason Ellis contributed 15 rebounds.

Besides Fort Wayne's dynamic backcourt, Anthony Richardson had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Brandon Wallace scored 15 points, had 11 rebounds, and swatted away 5 shots.

Fort Wayne takes on the division leading Canton Charge this coming Tuesday at 7 pm at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
