Lansing Lugnuts News Release

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Lansing Lugnuts (3-15, 35-52) slugged three home runs to snap a 10-game losing streak, defeating the Bowling Green Hot Rods (12-7, 50-37), 6-2, on Monday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark.

The 10-game losing streak tied a franchise-long, while the win for Lansing was just their second in 12 tries against Bowling Green this season.

The three home runs for the Lugnuts accounted for all of their runs.

In the second inning, a solo home run from Kevin Patterson gave the Lugs a 1-0 lead against Hot Rods starter Sean Bierman (Loss, 4-4).

An inning later, Emilio Guerrero slugged a two-run homer into the bullpen down the left field line that stretched the lead to 3-0.

The big blast came in the sixth inning as Carlos Ramirez drilled a pitch deep to left-center for a three-run homer and a 6-0 Lansing lead. The home run for Ramirez was his first since May 22nd against the Lake County Captains.

The 11-hit output for the Lugs was their best against Bowling Green all season, never previously topping seven hits head-to-head.

Bierman gave up six earned runs - all earned - and all 11 Lansing hits in six innings on the mound. He did not allow a walk and struck out three Lugnuts hitters.

Reinstated off the Disabled List prior to the game, Daniel Norris earned his first start in a month for Lansing, pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up three singles, issuing two walks and striking out four.

Kramer Champlin (Win, 4-1) held the Lugnuts lead with 4.1 scoreless innings in relief of Norris to earn the win. He allowed just one base-runner in the game, a single by Justin O'Connor in the fifth inning. O'Connor also homered in the eighth inning.

After a day off on Tuesday, the Lugnuts open up a six-game homestand with three games against the Peoria Chiefs. With first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Lansing will give the ball to right-hander Javier Avendaño (5-6, 4.46). He will face off against Chiefs' lefty Kyle Helisek (6-3, 3.35).
