Louisville Bats News Release

Toledo, Ohio - The Louisville Bats took an 8-3 lost in Sunday afternoon's matchup against the Toledo Mud Hens. Toledo righty Thad Weber earned the win while Louisville right-hander Stephen Johnson took the loss in the final game before the All-Star break.

Louisville started the scoring off in the top of the first when center-fielder Scott Schebler doubled, scoring second baseman Hernan Iribarren.

Toledo countered in the bottom half when third baseman Casey McGehee singled on a line drive which scored shortstop JaCoby Jones and tie the score at 1-1 going into the second.

The Mud Hens came away with a 3-1 lead after the second when second baseman Argenis Diaz hit an RBI single to score right fielder Jeff McVaney and move catcher John Hicks to third. Hicks scored a short time later on a wild pitch.

Designated hitter Jermaine Curtis' RBI single scoring Schebler in the top half of the third seemed to put the Bats back on track only to have Toledo score three in the bottom half when left fielder Tyler Collins homered to score McGehee and Huffman putting Toledo at the 6-2 advantage.

Louisville third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean homered in the fourth cut the Bat's deficit in half but Collins' two RBI double in the sixth once again increased the Mud Hen lead, this time to 8-3.

Second baseman Tony Renda's RBI single in the seventh and first baseman Steve Selsky's RBI single in the ninth proved too little to push the Bats over the Mud Hens. Toledo walked away with the 8-5 victory.

The Bats are back at it on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field versus Indianapolis. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
