Lookouts Blank BayBears, 5-0

April 19, 2008 - Southern League (SL1) - Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Sam LeCure led the Lookouts' pitching staff to their first shutout of the season in a 5-0 win over the Mobile BayBears in Saturday night action at AT&T Field.

The Lookouts drew first blood in the second inning on a Shaun Cumberland RBI single. This run would prove to be the winning run of the game.

Chattanooga would add three more runs in the sixth by twice capitalizing on bases loaded opportunities. The first bases loaded opportunity occurred with Jose Castro at the plate, who promptly took one for the team with a hit by pitch. Pinch hitter Drew Anderson followed with a clutch two-RBI single to extend the Lookouts' lead to 4-0.

Meanwhile, Lookouts starting pitcher Sam LeCure (1-1) held his end of the bargain by pitching six shutout innings on the night. He would yield only three hits and two walks in his sublime performance.

Shaun Cumberland added a solo shot in the eighth for good measure to give the Lookouts a 5-0 edge, which would eventually become the final score.

Daniel Herrera and Robert Manuel preserved the shutout by completing the final three innings with little trouble.

Brooks Brown dropped to 1-3 on the season for Mobile after throwing five innings. He relinquished three runs during his outing, but managed to strike out eight in the losing effort.

Mobile and Chattanooga will continue their five-game series, tomorrow at 2:15 PM. The featured promotion of the game will be "Dogs on the Diamond." Fans will have the opportunity to bring their dogs to AT&T Field. Festivities will include a pre-game pooch parade, giveaways, and the ability to have your dog's photo displayed on the video board.

Tickets for this games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
