Local Star Returns Home; Knights Sign Experienced Keeper

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights have added strength at both ends of the field with their two newest signings. Pending league approval, midfielder Daniel Stevens (Liverpool, N.Y.) and goalkeeper Eric Reed (Laguna Hills, Calif.) are the latest additions to the Silver Knights squad that will do battle in MISL's Eastern Conference this season.

Stevens, a graduate of Liverpool High School and former member of the Syracuse Blitz youth soccer club, returns to the Salt City to compete in his first full MISL season. He recently completed his first professional season abroad as a member of PS Kemi Kings of the Finnish First Division where he made 22 appearances and scored five goals.

Prior to his experience in Europe, Stevens developed his game with a number of professional and high-level amateur teams domestically. Notably,Stevens was a key member of the USL PDL's Michigan Bucks during their 2006 championship season. Stevens was drafted by the Philadelphia Kixx of the MISL in 2008 following a stellar collegiate career at the University of Buffalo.

Reed comes to the Silver Knights following an outstanding season in USL PRO with the Charlotte Eagles. In addition to leading the league in minutes and games played, he finished second in the league with 81 saves while also adding eight shutouts. A former UCLA Bruin, Reed has steadily worked his way through the USL ranks. As an amateur, Reed earned PDL Goalkeeper of the Year honors in 2006 while playing for the Southern California Seahorses.

After turning professional, Reed was named team MVP in his rookie season as a member of the California Victory of the USL First Division in 2007, won the USL Second Division title with the Cleveland City Stars in 2008, and was a member of the Carolina Railhawks from 2009-2010. The addition of Stevens and Reed brings the Knights' roster up to 11 with more announcements to come leading up to the team's home opener on Friday, November 4 against the Rochester Lancers at the Oncenter War Memorial. Kickoff for the Silver Knights' inaugural home opener is at 7:30 p.m.Fans can get a first look at the team as the Knights host Mid "Knight" Madness at the Oncenter War Memorial on Thursday, October 27, 6-8 p.m. The team will introduce their players and coaches and will play their first exhibition game. Fans will have a chance to meet the team and get autographs following the scrimmage. Fans will also have the opportunity to secure priority seating for both single and season tickets.
