Lions Ink Former UBC Defenders Mitch Barnett and Dominique Termansen

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club today announced that national free agent linebacker Mitch Barnett and national defensive back Dominique Termansen have signed 2018 contracts with the team.

A homecoming for both players as the former UBC Thunderbirds return to BC to play for their hometown club.

Barnett (6'1", 212), son of former Lions defensive back Bruce Barnett, began his CFL career as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after being selected in the seventh round of the 2016 CFL Draft. He appeared in 29 games over the past two seasons tallying 10 special teams stops and a pair of defensive tackles.

Termansen (5'11", 175) was originally a free agent signing by the Montreal Alouettes in 2016. The North Vancouver native played in 27 games for Als recording five special teams tackles, four defensive stops and an interception.

"Mitch and Dominique help improve our Canadian depth and have demonstrated the ability to play starting positions on defence," said GM Ed Hervey. "They love the physicality of their positions and they'll make us notably better on special teams."
