Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release

HIDALGO, TEXAS - The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that a limited number of tickets to the October 7 NBA pre-season game between the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics at Dodge Arena will be released for public sale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.

The prices of these tickets range from $60 to $165. All floor and end zone seats are sold out.

Excitement surrounding the game and the Rockets' partnership agreements with the Vipers helped the team shatter the franchise record for season tickets as more than 1,200 season tickets already have been sold with more than two months remaining until the Vipers' home opener on December 4.

Remaining tickets to the Rockets-Celtics game can be purchased through TicketMaster online, by phone at 1-866-448-7849 or at any TicketMaster outlet. Tickets can also be purchased at the Dodge Arena box office and at the Vipers Pro-Shop at Uptown Plaza (4500 N. 10th St.) in McAllen.

Prior to the game, the Vipers and Rockets will host RGV Rocket Launch, a festival surrounding Rockets' training camp in the Rio Grande Valley, at the McAllen Convention Center, October 3-5. The festival also will include two days of Rockets practices and autograph sessions. Seats for Rockets' practices are guaranteed only to Vipers season ticket holders. Vipers season tickets can be purchased at the new Vipers pro shop or over the phone at (956) 972-1144.

This is the second year in a row the Rockets and Celtics will meet in the pre-season. Last season in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the Celtics eked out a 90-89 victory that saw all Rockets and Celtics starters play more than 20 minutes each.

This also marks the first time an NBA Development League team has hosted a parent club for any part of training camp.

The Rockets will be making their first trip to Rio Grande Valley in nearly 35 years. On October 18, 1975 the NBA-Rockets defeated the then- ABA San Antonio Spurs, 113-109, in overtime at what was then known as Pan-American University in Edinburg. It was one of the last NBA-ABA exhibition games.
