London Lightning News Release

(WINDSOR, Ontario) - Friday night at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, the London Lightning extended their winning streak to five games with a 123-115 win over the Windsor Express.

The Lightning's record is now 8-2, good for tops in the NBLC.

Akeem Wright led the team with 26 points and added 14 rebounds. Tyshawn Patterson poured in 25 points and Nick Okorie broke out with a 24 point effort and 10 assists.

Stephen Maxwell finished with another double-double, scoring 19 and collecting a season-high 20 rebounds.

The Lightning jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and held it until the half, but Windsor's defence tightened up in the third.

The Express took the lead in the third and looked poised to wear down the Lightning by making them shoot from outside.

However, a 41-point fourth quarter from the Lightning got them past the reigning champs.

"Call it what it is, it's good work ethic. We didn't get phased, we stuck to the game plan," said coach Kyle Julius. "It was a roller coaster, up and down, but we stayed resilient, we stayed tough. It was a fun win to be a part of."

Three players (Okorie, Wright, and Maxwell) ended the night with double-doubles.

London now returns home to face the A's at Budweiser Gardens on Saturday.

The team will be wearing custom camo printed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game with all proceeds going to the St Joseph's Health Care Foundation's Fund for Parkwood Veteran's Hospital.

Tip-off is 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available through Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
