Lightning Acquire Goaltender Cedrick Desjardins From Montreal

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired goaltender Cedrick Desjardins from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for goaltender Dustin Tokarski, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Desjardins, 27, has appeared in 22 games this season with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, compiling a record of 7-13-2 with a 2.94 goals-against average and .905 save percentage. The Edmundston, New Brunswick native has played in two career NHL games, both with the Lightning during the 2010-11 season, picking up a pair of victories while recording a 1.00 goals-against average and .968 save percentage.

The 6-foot, 192-pound goaltender has played in 170 career AHL games with the Bulldogs, Norfolk Admirals and Lake Erie Monsters, compiling a record 87-56-12. Desjardins was the recipient of the AHL's Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award for recording a 2.00 goals-against average during the 2009-10 season, given annually to the goalie with the lowest goals-against average. That same season he also appeared in the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic, in which he was named top goaltender during the skills competition, as well as being named on the 2010 AHL Second All-Star Team following the season.

Desjardins has also played in 66 career ECHL games, all with the Cincinnati Cyclones, posting a 40-23-3 record with a .908 save percentage. During the 2008 ECHL playoffs he was named the finals MVP and won the Kelly Cup. Desjardins was also named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team in 2007.
