GREENVILLE, SC - The Lexington Legends jumped out to an early big lead but Greenville came roaring back to route the Legends 19-8 on Wednesday afternoon at West End Field. The Drive went on an 18-1 run to erase a six run Legends lead after an inning and a half.
The loss was the Legends third in a row and Lexington falls to 2-5 in the second half. Lexington is 3-4 on the year against Greenville with one more game to play on Thursday night.
Koby Clemens was one of the few bright spots offensively with three hits and a run. Jhon Florentino had two hits including a two-run shot to dead center field that traveled an estimated 438 feet.
Starter Bud Norris lasted just two innings allowing five runs on four hits. Five Lexington relievers combined to finish the game including Reid Kelly (0-1) who suffered the loss with four runs on four hits in two innings of work.
Reid Engle paced the Drive attack with four hits and two runs scored. Engel is batting .500 on the year against Lexington. Mike Chambers had three hits and Jason Place had four RBI to lead Greenville.
The series finale is set for Thursday night in Greenville. Legends lefty Doug Arguello will counter right-hander Daniel Bard. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm, Legends network coverage starts at 6:45 pm.
