Charleston, WV- The West Virginia Power dropped the series finale to the Lexington Legends 6-4 Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Power tied a season high by taking 13 walks however were unable finish the sweep in its final game of the season against the Legends.
Lexington opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first off Dario Agrazal. After the club loaded the bases with one out, Colton Frabisilio knocked an RBI single to right field and an additional run scored on the play because of an error by Ryan Nagle.
The Power got on the board in the third, despite not recording a hit. After back-to-back walks and a sacrifice bunt, Mitchell Tolman hit a sacrifice fly to left to plate Filliben and slice the deficit in half.
That was the only run allowed by starter Julio Pinto in four and two-thirds innings, limiting the Power to just one hit though he walked five.
Lexington extended their advantage with a three run fifth, highlighted by a two-run triple by Roman Collins. All five runs were charged to the tally of Agrazal (7-12), along with six hits across six innings.
West Virginia got one back in the seventh, when reliever Daniel Concepcion forced in a run with a bases loaded walk.
After Lexington knocked in another run in the ninth, the Power mounted a rally down four runs in the bottom half. Carlos Munoz hit a one out double and Jordan George walked to put runners at first and second. With the Power down to their final strike, Nagle ripped a two RBI double down the right field line to slice the lead to just two runs. That was as far as the rally would go as Matt Ditman recorded the final out for his fourth save.
Concepcion (2-4) picked up the win after allowing one run and walking five in one and two thirds innings of relief.
West Virginia tied a season-high with 13 walks in the game. Tolman finished without an official at bat after walking four times and adding a sacrifice fly. Casey Hughston finished 1-2 with three walks and a double, while Ryan Nagle led the club with two RBI after his ninth inning double.
The Power welcome the first-place Lakewood BlueClaws to Appalachian Power Park for the second time this season on Friday night. Logan Sendelbach start the series opener for the Power opposite 'Claws starter Seranthony Dominguez. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M.
