Rome, GA - The West Virginia Power shutout the Rome Braves Sunday afternoon 2-0 before 1,104 fans at State Mutual Stadium
West Virginia crossed the plate two times in the third inning as Alfredo Reyes singed to start the frame. Casey Hughston then bunted into a force out at second putting him at first with one out. Logan Ratledge then singled to put runners at first and second. With Mitchell Tolman batting, pitcher Ricardo Sabchez threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt advancing the runners 90 feet. Tolman then grounded to first baseman Carlos Castro scoring the runner from third but Castro threw the ball away allowing the second run to score. Both runs were unearned. That's all the Power would need as Rome was limited to just four hits and no runs for the 2-0 West Virginia victory.
Gage Hinsz (3-5) earns the win going six shutout innings allowing just three hits. Rome starter Ricardo Sancez 5-8) is hit with the loss going 4.2 innings scattering six hits and not allowing an earned run.
