OMAHA, NE - Omaha Royals starter Anthony Lerew was today called up by the Kansas City Royals, as the parent club put Luke Hochevar on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right elbow. Hochevar suffered the injury last Friday against the Reds. Lerew will make Hochevar's scheduled start Thursday against the Houston Astros. To make room for Lerew on the 40-man roster, Kansas City gave reliever John Parrish his unconditional release.

Lerew was 5-3 with a 2.84 ERA - 4th-best in the Pacific Coast League - in 14 appearances, including 11 starts for Omaha. In fact, in his 11 starts, the 27-year old right-hander was even better, posting a 5-2 record and a 2.12 ERA. In 73.0 Triple-A innings this season, he has yielded only three home runs. The 32-year old lefty last pitched for KC on April 24 and was placed on the D.L. on April 29 with left rotator cuff inflammation.
